The most typical liqueur of our beautiful land of Sicily, produced by the F.lli Russo Distillery in Santa Venerina in the province of Catania is definitely the Limoncello of Sicily. Our land is generous and offers us fresh lemons all year round, in fact we have four productions of lemons including the “verdello” and the primofiore. Furthermore our lemons, which come strictly from the Etna area and from organic cultivation, are rather small and their skin is rich in aromas and intense aromas that we manage to capture and transfer into our Limoncello which becomes a liqueur of rare fragrance, appreciated in Italy and abroad.
The production method is artisanal: the lemons, immediately after harvesting, are selected and peeled by hand, so as to obtain a very thin skin, without the white part that would make the liqueur bitter. The skins are immediately dipped in pure alcohol and remain there for a few days. Then the infusion is mixed with a solution of water and sugar.
The liqueur has a yellow-green color, is dense and mellow to the taste. It is served well chilled in small glasses also frozen. Its digestive properties make it an excellent end meal, also excellent in the preparation of fruit salads.
